Dealing with strong emotions

Call operators may receive calls from British Red Cross volunteers in difficult situations, such as those experiencing strong emotion.

Types of difficult calls

Operators may answer calls from volunteers who:

  • Have had a challenging deployment and need someone to speak to
  • Require support to complete their role or task
  • May be frustrated by not being deployed
  • May be unhappy with their deployment
  • May have experienced issues during their deployment
