You may receive an email or a phone call from a volunteer who is feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or upset due to the work they are carrying out and/or the wider impact of coronavirus.

The British Red Cross’s unique CALMER Framework can be utilised to facilitate a trusting relationship with people in crisis, promote understanding through the sharing of information and support those to cope with and recover from serious or traumatic events.

The Psychosocial and Mental Health Team have developed a resource to address mental health and psychosocial aspects of coronavirus for staff and volunteers working on the front-line – Supporting People Working in the coronavirus response. This document provides information on how workers may expect to feel in the days and months ahead.
